One of the currently demanded applications of ground penetrating radars is the study of the root system of trees.
The study was carried out around a tree with a trunk diameter of 50 cm at the base.

The object of study
To carry out such studies, the VIY software package allows you to organize GPR sounding along an arc. The GPR antenna is attached to the center of the site with a non-stretchable cord, which allows the operator to move the antenna precisely along the arc. In this case, the profile coordinates are set by the radius of the arc (indicated by the operator) and the distance from the beginning of the profile to the point of intersection with the baseline (measured automatically).

Arcs of GPR profiles can cover a tree from all sides or only a part. In the example shown, 22 profiles were made around one center and 21 profiles around a second center.
Data collection took approximately 50 minutes. After this with Planner program we built a 3D scene.
